Atelier Playa Mujeres is a 5* all-inclusive resort in Cancun designed by Curioso that’s been recently honored with a Gold Key Award for the Best Resort, among other prizes. One of only a few which invites each guest to live new luxury experiences. The hotel pays tribute to the destination’s Mayan past and natural heritage.

The sense of tranquility wrapping the whole place starts at the lobby. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the lofty space with light. Everything here is about earthy tones and natural materials. Sofas, chairs and tables are smartly distributed as to arrange distinct sitting areas with plants and stone spheres insouciantly demarcating its borders.

A pair of Benasal armchairs by Studio expormim and four Tina armchairs by Benedetta Tagliabue camouflage themselves against the soft background, the only discordant note being the four MUT Design’s Twins low armchairs dressed in flamboyant orange. Across the pool evoking the famous cenotes, we find Mario Ruiz’s Huma swivel chairs, facing the minimalistic cocktail bar. Their privilege: a gorgeous ocean view for the rear wall is entirely made of glass.

A darker colour palette prevails in El Cafecito Coffee House. By the entrance, four Radial armchairs welcome the diners. Inside, at one end of the counter, four Frames rattan armchairs, a signature piece by Jaime Hayon, stand as in invitation to lay back and enjoy a nice cuppa, while Fontal dining armchairs by Oscar Tusquets allow for upright sitting and hence a more formal dining.
