Ladurée was founded as a humble bakery in the Madeleine district of Paris back in 1862. The first stone of the Garnier Opera House was laid that very same year. The quartier was quickly changing. A fire prompted the transformation of the bakery into a luxury pastry shop. Then, macarons, maybe the finest piece of French pastry ever invented, became its banner around the world. Now, Maison Ladurée tea rooms and boutiques are established far and wide. Since 2017, Norwegian-born, Parisian-based, interior and fashion designer Claudia Ravnbo has been the creative director of Maison Ladurée. Her distinctive modus operandi consists of capturing the flavour of Ladurée and adapting it to the identity of each country.
