Our vision is clear: to leave our mark on this planet without leaving a trace in the soil, the water, or the air. When we learn to love nature and the many precious gifts it still offers us, sustainability becomes the only possible path for any company committed to zero waste and the 3R principle. Sustainability is a cross-cutting concept that permeates every stage of the design process, from the first idea to the final product. For some time now, we have been seeing the world through a different lens, and that is why collections such as Meridies by Roberto Lazzeroni so perfectly reflect the strength of our commitment to conscious design and our love for nature.

Sustainability as a game changer

Before environmental practices became a thing, the industrial process was more carefree. Being green wasn’t that important until it was mandatory. For those of us who decided to embrace the responsibility, it was a challenge and a larger-than-life commitment. Our company is currently certified to ISO 14001, an international standard that helps us identify and control our environmental impact and promote sustainable strategies, such as the installation of a photovoltaic plant in 2022 or the progressive emission reduction until we reach the net zero in 2030.

Ecodesign, on the other hand, has provided us with the keys to recycling. We now work with high-quality recycled fabrics such as Heritage from Sunbrella®, Strada or Bora Bora from Crevin®.

The aluminium alloy used in our outdoor collections contains a high percentage of recycled material. Our wood and rattan come from certified forests and our assembly process allows for an easier repair of the pieces –thus prolonging their useful life– and an easier recycling of the components. It’s a new era, a greener era, and our collections are a powerful reflection of it.

Meridies, conscious Mediterranean design

Meridies, the new collection by Roberto Lazzeroni launched in the past Salone del Mobile, is one of the most representative products of this new era. And in truth, of all eras as it beautifully ennobles Expormim’s Mediterranean spirit. Meridies sofa and armchair are made of FSC® sapele wood, a very strong and resistant wood that guarantees durability. Because when we design, we design thinking about the future. The more timeless and enduring the design, the longer its life and less the need to dispose of it.

Meridies is entirely manufactured in Spain by combining cutting-edge technology and the finest craftsmanship. The whole production process takes place in our factory in Moixent meaning we are able to fully guarantee the traceability of our wood and the authenticity of its FSC® certification. It is our way to prove we are committed to protecting our environment, while staying true to our principles, history and tradition.

Besides the armchair and the sofa of FSC® sapele wood, Meridies outdoor collection also includes a set of ceramic and travertine coffee tables. Evoking natural elements like petals, seeds and leaves, and being made from natural raw materials, these tables couldn’t speak more of our respect for the environment, only comparable to our love for craftsmanship and Mediterranean design. Times are quickly changing, but in the midst of the maelstrom good values adapt and remain.
