Sometimes the past is so contemporary. Expormim has gone to those days with the intention to recover the first Lapala woven chair, the original, so typical of the Mediterranean.
The sculptural design, conceived by Lievore Altherr Molina studio in 1998, turns 25 years old.
Originally an indoor chair, woven in wicker and distributed at the time by a company belonging to Expormim’s same group, Lapala had everything a classic needs to become such but it was on the verge of falling into oblivion until it came to us a few years ago. In 2015, we decided to give it a second life but for outdoors. That’s why we turned to more resistant materials: nautical rope and stainless steel. The updating of “Lapala” was also translated into a significant increase of comfort due to improved ergonomics.
New version for indoor spaces: Lapala rattan
This year, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary, we have released a new version for indoor spaces to our portfolio. We want to remain faithful to our roots, combining tradition and innovation in order to provide our clients exclusive furniture with the highest quality and minimum environmental impact, exquisitely manufactured (8 hours are required to weave the shell with the best quality natural wicker), with the ability to blend into contemporary spaces without having to compromise its traditional character and authenticity.
