Imagine a house in a middle of a mountainous landscape with an uninterrupted view of the Mediterranean sea. Imagine a geometric volume with soft facades and floors of brushed natural stone and a system of wood slats and lattices half-hidden among the tops of evergreen pine trees. Now add a swimming pool and the most elegant indoor and outdoor furniture. What you get is Casa Teià, a project by Clysa and Tailor&Bau located in the Catalan region of El Maresme.

Indoor areas such as the living room or the bedroom sport some of our most renowned wood and rattan collections. Designer rattan furniture such as Fontal upholstered chair, Kiri rattan coffee table or Armadillo rattan armchair fill the atmosphere with its softness, warmth and unmistakable Mediterranean style mirroring the architecture of the house.

Rattan means warmth

Several of our most iconic indoor rattan collections dress the spacious living room and dining room open areas. Natural light flows in from the large windows on both walls. Every detail here works to build a deep sense of warmth. Thus the election of natural materials such as stone, wood or rattan.

Two Radial rattan armchairs, one of our reedited classics from the 70s, provide auxiliary seating with its soft curved lines drawing a welcoming smile. This versatile indoor rattan collection fits in all sorts of contemporary living spaces because of its small size and wide range of customization options.

Sandwiched between the living room and the kitchen, the dining room, so simple and yet so sleek, displays our Slats table made of solid European oak wood and six of our Fontal upholstered rattan chairs, a designer indoor collection by Oscar Tusquets Blanca.

The severity of the rectangular table contrasts with the kindness of the Fontal chairs with its ultralight backrest of a single rattan stroke and padded cushions. Slats big size wood table and Fontal rattan chairs create a comfortable setting either for sharing everyday meals with the family or host a dinner with friends.

Good night, sleep tight

Sweet dreams come wrapped once again in wood and rattan. Moving to the master bedroom, we find two Kiri rattan side tables flanking the bed as silent, unmoved guards. The version chosen here as nightstand is the smallest of the three Kiri coffee tables.

This indoor collection designed by Mario Ruiz features fantastic insect-like rattan legs and a solid wood tabletop. It comes in different sizes and colours and it can be used alone or combined with the other coffee tables in the collection. Yet another proof of its great adaptability.

At the foot of the bed, Armadillo rattan armchair shines with its own light. Armadillo is MUT Design Studio’s personal take on the classic Papasan wicker chair. It sits in a corner serving as both extra seating and a decorative piece. The cushion provides all the comfort you could wish for. The cadence of the rattan rods in Armadillo‘s backrest and seat seems to prolong the pattern of the lattice in the windows.

Casa Teià with its neat architecture, thorough design and fantastic landscaping brings out the best of Mediterranean minimalism, a language we’ve been writing for decades in rattan and wood.
