Location
Brooklyn, New York
Located in Downtown Brooklyn, this rental building was designed with the aim of providing affordable housing with larger than average homes and four floors of amenities to make life more livable, a shelter from the hustle and bustle of the city. Maybe because of this, they chose one of Expormim’s most comfortable and user-friendly collections to be a part of it, a classic among classics: Nido outdoor.
A nest to roost and socialize
Hanover House consists of a one-story podium and a tower. The podium façade is clad in glazed brick and the base features a large arched storefront in a nod to the architecture of Brooklyn’s historic warehouses. Crowning this commercial area at street level, there is a garden terrace where we find some of our Nido low armchairs, a fine sample of our long-standing expertise in manufacturing outdoor furniture, accompanied by Bare side tables.
Nido (‘nest’ in English) is a Mediterranean seating collection designed by Javier Pastor. The tensely and thoroughly braided nautical rope is without doubt the defining element of this outdoor collection. Strategically placed all along the garden terrace, facing each other to facilitate the meeting and stimulate the conversation, Nido stands as an invitation to leave the stress of the working day behind and relax surrounded by the city lights.
A rooftop with a view
Besides this sort of mezzanine terrace, this project by Fogarty Finger and Lonicera Partners includes a rooftop with landscaped decks and NY Harbor views. The rooftop offers sunbathing and lounging areas enhanced with greenery. These social nooks reinforce the underlying idea of the whole Hanover House concept: designing bigger units and multiple amenities where people can gather. As its motto states, “a house that is a home”.
These nooks sport once again Nido armchairs, one of our best-selling outdoor collections, and the Livit outdoor sofa by Lievore Altherr Molina and Bare side tables. Their geometricity and the dark tones in their structure and upholstery match the restrained architecture of the building whose boldest trait is the red panels of the façade. Altogether a welcoming spot to fight the always lurking loneliness of the metropolis.
