If there is a place in the whole wide world where the pleasure of living outdoors is especially savoured, that is the Mediterranean.

Daily life happens around patios, porches and gardens. This taste for outdoor life, being in contact with nature and sustainability were the core idea of the second edition of Elle Decor All’Aperto. The exhibition took place from April 6 to 10 at Palazzo Litta, a spectacular Baroque building in historic downtown Milan. It was a project entirely dedicated to outdoor living and Expormim, together with other prominent brands, was invited to interpret this concept in its own particular way.

Designed by Studiopepe and landscape architect Marco Bay, the exhibition’s unifying thread was nature. The idea was recovering the typical nature from Lombard, still abundant in the countryside around fountains, lakes, ponds and streams. A sort of domestic nature, the curators would explain. They didn’t want to distort the soul of the place with exotic plants. Instead they brought back to the palace the vegetation that embraced it in the 17th century. Bay, on the other hand, created a very realistic forest that would hide the different settings displayed under the majestic porticoes.

Expormim built its proposal through four different collections which condense in the most exquisite way the signature’s outdoor philosophy: an outdoor space so comfortable and elegant that it could be transferred indoors and still work fine both aesthetically and functionally. The selection included classic collections such as Plump sofa which thanks to its modularity fits easily into any kind of background or Nido armchair with its unmistakable braided rope patterns breathing Mediterranean through and through. They were joined by Grada, a playful familiy of coffee tables so simple and yet so flexible, and Link, a handmade rug, rich in texture and relief.
